ホットな話題を英語で議論する Discussion Sessionです。今回のお題はこちらです。

There was mounting opposition to holding a state funeral for Former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

A private funeral had already been held at the Zoshoji Temple in Tokyo amid the crowds that gathered to offer the flower.

PM Kishida approved the arrangements for the funeral. This is the second time for the Japanese leader in post-war Japan. The event should be non-denominational, simple, and sad. We are not sure about the estimated cost of the event and the number of attendees, including foreign guests.

Opposition politicians and civil groups questioned the use of the taxpayer’s money for it. The public was divided.
